Everything you need to start.

How the books open, how the bank comes in, how the review queue works, and the questions people ask about a ledger a model never writes.

Getting started

From an empty chart to the first closed period: five steps, each landing on the feature it uses.

  1. Open the books

An entity, a chart of accounts and your first period. Money is whole cents and every entry must balance — the composer refuses one that doesn't, and so does the server.

  2. Bring the bank in

Export a CSV, OFX or QFX from your bank and import it. Rows wait in the inbox; nothing posts until you say so.

  3. Work the review queue

Rules you taught it run first, then the evidence already on the books. Sure rows are done for you; the rest wait for you to pick the job. Everything is undoable.

  4. Cost the jobs

An accepted quote creates the job's budget; costs post against it as they happen. Job costing ranks every job by projected margin, and the WIP schedule is one click.

  5. Close the period and report

P&L, balance sheet, trial balance and the exports your accountant works from. Close the period when you are done; closed periods reject writes.

Books That
Keep Themselves

Money moves, the ledger follows. What it can't be sure of, it asks about — and nothing posts without you.
